About Samios Tyres

Samios Tyres does not just sell truck tyres.  It has been associated with trucks and actually started out operating its own trucks way back in 1947 as a family-owned hardware store in the inner city Brisbane suburb of Stones Corner.  Later, they expanded into sand and gravel and the need for trucks grew.  In the early days, they ran Fords, a Seddon (see photo) and an International KB-7 as well as Leylands. Seddon

The hardware store was later joined by a plant hire and an earthmoving business and the mix of trucks in later years evolved to include all sorts of tippers including twin-steer FL7 and FL10 Volvos, a Mack MCR (pictured), Leaders and a Mack R600 prime mover and trailer (also see photos).

With this range of trucks to operate and maintain, the need for decent, reasonably-priced tyres to use on their own trucks became a priority as the earthmoving and construction environment in which they operated was harsh and destructive on truck tyres.

Initially sourcing and importing truck tyres for their own use, word gradually spread amongst other operators who first bought the tyres "just to try them out".  They were impressed and demand grew.....

From this, the business now known as Samios Wholesale Tyres was born.  The hardware store and plant hire have now gone; but Samios Tyres (since approx 1990) has contiued to supply many happy, repeat customers with "Quality Tyres at Bargain Prices".

The Beatty Road (Brisbane) store was joined in 2010 by a branch in Altona (Melbourne) so that people in southern states would also have readier access to decent truck tyres that don't cost an arm and a leg.

To make things even easier for customers, both branches have plenty of parking and turn around space - even for B-doubles.  There are also now spacious, well equipped fitting bays, refreshment facilities and showrooms full of handy accessories and truck tyre maintenance equipment to browse and buy.

This is all a far cry from the original crowded sand and gravel yard.  However the Samios Tyres slogan of "Quality Tyres at Bargain Prices" still prevails today.
